Caradoc

Hired the Addermarch Mercenaries on May 2nd, 1715 in Roscombe, Carlinshire, Addermarch

A reclusive alchemist of the Roscombe hinterlands who works out of a cottage laboratory near the small village of Brantor.

Overview

Caradoc is a reclusive alchemist who maintains a cottage laboratory outside Brantor, trading coin and commissions for rare reagents while keeping his discoveries close. Despite his sixty‑plus years, he moves with crisp focus. He has white hair cut short, and keen green eyes, always measuring the worth of a sample. He bankrolls expeditions rather than traveling himself, relying on proven agents to secure exotic ingredients such as cockatrice gizzards and the living mineral uligium.

Personality

Pragmatic, exacting, and politely distant; weighs every bargain against the risks of stirring up fey or frontier politics. Dislikes attention, preferring discreet operatives and prompt results. Though rumored to be fabulously wealthy—or secretly fey‑touched—he lives simply and treats alchemy as both scholarly calling and civic duty, rewarding competence with generous pay.

Capabilities & Resources

  • Expertise in alchemical reagents and rare materials, including ability to craft Trueflame and other specialized substances.
  • Has extensive funds to commission fieldwork without noble oversight; where his wealth comes from is unclear.
